Hydel High School’s Alana Reid has followed up her imperious performance in the girls’ Class One 100 metres with a composed performance over twice the distance at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships inside the National Stadium earlier this evening.

Reid, who broke the national junior record when she clocked 10.92 seconds on Wednesday night, returned in the 200-metre semi-final to blitz her opponents to easily qualify for the final in 23.87.

The Class One 100 champion was followed home by Wolmer’s Trust High School for Girls’ Mickayla Gardener, who was dragged to 23.92.

From that semi-final, St Catherine High School’s Kamaria Knight, 24.64, was the third automatic qualifier, while there were two non-automatic qualifiers in St Mary High’s Glacian Loutin, 24.95, and Excelsior High School’s, 25.20.

Edwin Allen High School’s Kacian Powell, looked strong, clocking 24.08, to get the better of Holmwood Technical’s Rickiann Russell, 24.22.

Russell, yesterday, challenged the Class One 400-metre record of 51.13 when she clocked 51.26.

The 400 record is held by former Holmwood Technical standout, Sonita Sutherland.

The third automatic qualifier from the second semi-final was grabbed by St Mary High’s Shantae Pryce, 24.73.
