Hydel High won their first-ever girls’ title at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls’ Athletics Championships at the National Stadium tonight as they finished second in the Open girls’ 4x400 metres relay to end the nine-straight overall victory of defending champions Edwin Allen.

With Hydel leading the points standing by four points going into the race, Edwin Allen won the final girls’ race to capture the 12 points for the win. Hydel placed second in the event for 10 points and their first hold on the Games Mistress Trophy.

Hydel finished with 279 points, with Edwin Allen two points adrift on 277 as Holmwod ended third on 202.
