Manchester march on in ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup
Manchester High continued to show their proficiency in front of goal in this year’s ISSA/WATA daCosta Cup as they chalked up their 30th goal of the new season following an impressive 4-1 victory over Belair High in their rescheduled fixture yesterday, to maintain their 100 per cent win record.
Manchester’s fifth straight win affirmed their status atop Zone F, with maximum 15 points with Belair, who were suffering their first loss, sitting in second on nine points.
In another Zone F encounter, Mount St Joseph High turned back Cross Keys High 3-0. The win lifted Mount St Joseph to fourth in the zone with six points. The fifth straight loss for Cross Keys has them rooted to the bottom of the table.
Elsewhere, Paul Bogle High secured their third win of the season following a 3-0 win over Yallahs High in Zone K. Paul Bogle are second in the zone on nine points, behind leaders Morant Bay High on 12 points.
In the meantime, some exciting fixtures are expected to punctuate today’s round, with defending champions Clarendon College going for their fifth straight win when they travel to face fourth-place Lennon High in Zone H.
The other Zone H fixture will see second-place Edwin Allen High taking on the winless Claude McKay High.
Over in Zone D, leaders Manning’s School will be on the hunt for their fourth win when they entertain second-place Black River High. Also in Zone D, Grange Hill High will travel to face Petersfield High.
In Zone G, Christiana High are set to face Holmwood Technical, second-place Mile Gully High will lock horns with leaders Bellefield High, while third-place Knox College will host bottom-of-the-table Alphansus Davis High.
