April 15 trial for accused illegal tour guide

A man who was arrested in January after he was allegedly seen offering his services as a tour guide unlawfully in Montego Bay is to stand trial in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on April 15.
Kevin Barnes had previously pleaded not guilty to the charges of operating as a tour guide without a Jamaica Tourist Board licence, and resisting arrest. He was given the trial date when he appeared in court on Monday.
Although the details of the allegations had not previously been outlined, it was revealed on the last court date of February 9 that Barnes had been arrested and charged on January 25.
During Barnes' previous appearance in court, it had been outlined that the prosecution's case file was incomplete, as a corroborating officer's statement was needed.
On Monday, when Barnes appeared before presiding magistrate Natalie Hart-Hines, the court was told that the file was complete and ready for trial.
Hart-Hines consequently set the matter to be heard on April 15, and extended Barnes' bail to that date.
