Probation office treats needy

RESIDENTS OF the Marie Atkins Shelter for the Homeless, 65 Hanover Street in Kingston, were fêted recently by the Corporate Area Probation Office of the Department of Correctional Services.

The residents were served a Christmas dinner of chicken, ham, escoveitched fish, curried goat, rice and peas, sorrel and Christmas cake, as well as specially prepared care-gift packages.

Persons from the Open Arms Drop-In Centre at Windward Road in Kingston were also treated by the probation department.

The residents were all served by the probation officers and other members of staff. Several organi-sations provided support by sponsoring the event.

Residents at both facilities expressed gratitude to the organisers and thanked the sponsors.
