Gleaner makes early interim dividend payment
THE GLEANER Company's Chairman and Managing Director, Oliver Clarke, yesterday announced that The Gleaner would be making an early interim dividend payment to its shareholders as a result of the group's recent sale of Sangster's Bookstores Limited.
The payment will be in the form of a five-cent dividend to shareholders who are on register as at January 29, 2010. This dividend will be paid on February 8, 2010, earlier than usual.
This level of interim dividend is not indicative of future payment levels, which will be solely based on the group's performance in the second half of 2010.
Clarke noted that The Gleaner was especially pleased to be giving its shareholders additional value so early in a year predicted to be one of increased challenges. "The Gleaner group," he said, "will continue to seek out opportunities to reward its shareholders for their unwavering support of the group's activities."
The last interim dividend payment was made to The Gleaner's shareholders in December 2009.
