The police are investigating an incident of friendly fire, which resulted in two members of the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) being shot and injured yesterday.

According to the Constabulary Communication Network, the shooting, which occurred on the Bustamante Highway near Glenmuir, Clarendon, resulted in one of the policemen being admitted to hospital in serious condition.

The other policeman was treated and released.

The Bureau of Special Investigations yesterday said both groups of police personnel were probing a kidnapping case. The cops from the OCID, who where in civilian clothes, were fired on by members of the Clarendon police.

Up to press time last night, National Security Minister Dwight Nelson said he had not received full details on the incident.
