Defending Grace/ISSA Headley Cup champions St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) continue to make easy progress in Group C after recording an eight-wicket win in their latest game against Munro College in Malvern last Friday.
STETHS entered the Munro encounter with loads of confidence, after starting their 2010 campaign earlier in the week in emphatic fashion, brushing aside Lewisville at home in Santa Cruz, by 140 runs.
Munro who defeated BB Coke in their season opener, batted first and posted 160 runs with Sanjay Fletcher top-scoring with 35 runs. Wickets for STETHS were shared all around with Omar Walters (three) and West Indies Under-19 pacer Nicholson Gordon claiming two wickets of his own.
Second straight win
The defending champions reached their target in comfortable fashion with captain Paul Palmer Jr who failed with the bat against Lewisville, finishing with an unbeaten 55 runs. Vanfield Broomfield, who began the season with a knock of 70, also got among the runs, scoring 40 runs not out. The team's first century maker of the season - opener Desmond Jones - made 29.
STETHS's second straight win provided them with an early lead in the zone standings after Maggotty, first round winners over Newell High, played out a draw with Lacovia. BB Coke subjected Lewisville to another crushing defeat after limiting them to just 35.
Knockalva who along with Lewisville were added for the first time to Zone C, have withdrawn from the competition.
