Police investigators have charged the four persons arrested in connection with the seizure of 19 guns and almost 11,000 rounds of ammunition two weeks ago.

Those charged include a police sergeant of the constabulary force's armoury and stores.

Two civilians who also worked at the armoury, and a businessman who allegedly operated an illegal gun shop on Munster Road in eastern St Andrew, were also charged.

Charges against cop

The policeman, Sergeant Russell Robinson, has been slapped with charges which include illegal possession of firearms and breaches of the Corruption Prevention Act.

The police sergeant was reportedly held after a quantity of guns and ammunition was found at a premises on Munster Road following the search of his vehicle.

Garnett Pennington, who is believed to be the owner of the premises, was charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and aiding and abetting storehouse break-in and larceny.

Charles Morris and David Blagrove, two civilians attached to the police armoury, were charged with illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as aiding and abetting storehouse break-in and larceny.
