Courtney Allen produced his best batting display in powering Manchester High to a six-wicket win, in their top of the table Group D Grace/ISSA Headley Cup encounter against Holmwood Technical in Christiana, earlier this week.

Allen, a regular in the various national youth teams for the last five years, smashed 15 fours and 20 sixes on his way to a whirlwind 191 not out, as Manchester chased down Holmwood's 268, which was compiled in 47 overs.

The Holmwood ground is relatively small, but Allen's knock came against the background of his team's precarious position at 23 for three after Oshane Walters, Sherdan Allen and Terrence Dixon all went cheaply.

The telling blows from pacer Romaine Martin's early spell was smothered as Allen forged a 237 fourth-wicket partnership with Jerome Lewis, who contributed 49.

Manchester's run-chase was completed after 36 overs.

Earlier, when Holmwood were asked to take first strike, Takim Lowe finished with an unbeaten 84, while Aldane Thomas made 78.

The win follows previous comfortable efforts against Knox and Cross Keys, and means Manchester are on course to qualify for the second round as the top placed team from the group. They still have outstanding games against Knox and Albert Town. Despite the loss, Holmwood are still expected to qualify for the second round.
