Calling men to be men

The Global Institute for Freedom, Transformation and Enlightenment (GIFTE) is inviting men to connect with their masculinity in a two-day seminar titled 'Man, Love, Money and Power', starting today.

The seminar begins at the Mona Visitors' Lodge and continues at the Blue Mountain Peak, where the men will camp overnight, returning on Sunday afternoon.

According to Jenille Sukhu, executive and administrative assistant at the GIFTE, the experience is an exploration and a quest to discover the sacred man within. "Men are losing or have lost their power, authenticity, integrity and manhood. They are outdone in almost every aspect of the society by women. In many instances, men are merely tolerated by their women, not honoured or loved," a release from the GIFTE said.

"Many of our men feel insufficient in their ability to love, make love, lead, be open, honest, support their families, stand up to, or even leave a woman. A large number of men have become space holders, sperm donors and security blankets," said Sukhu.

The release further added that the two-day activity was directed at helping men to reconnect with their masculine energy and find their courage and warrior spirit.
