LONDON, England (CMC):

Jamaican defender Damion Stewart netted a second-half header on Tuesday evening and spurred Queen's Park Rangers to a 2-0 win over struggling Plymouth Argyle in England's League Championship.

Stewart scored soon after the break as QPR sailed to their second win in three days under new coach Neil Warnock.

The result moved resurgent QPR up to 15th place in the standings - edging clear of the drop zone - while deepening Plymouth's relegation worries.

The 20-year-old Moroccan midfielder Adel Taarabt had a superb game and gave QPR a 36th-minute lead from the penalty spot - his sixth goal of the season - before setting up Stewart's insurance goal in the 49th minute in front of 12,013 fans at QPR's Loftus Road Stadium.

Taarabt, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, hit a perfect inswinging free kick from the left four minutes into the second half that allowed Stewart to head home his first goal of the season.
