Hats off to Cinderella Hats as that topped the show with its fabulous collection at the fifth staging of the Hats on to Easter fund-raiser, held at 3 Ardenne Road in St Andrew on Sunday, March 14.

The annual event is staged by Hearts 'N Ideas, the charitable arm of communications agency Innovative Ideas to raise funds to assist children at risk. This year, all proceeds from the event will benefit the SOS Children's Village in Haiti and Jamaica's Children First of Spanish Town in St Catherine.

This year, patrons and their families supported the event and feasted their eyes on the beautiful hats. Even little girls were adorned in tastefully designed hats, although some were a little on the large side.

The collection showcased everything from bridal designs to hats just for showing off. The fascinator segment featured hats that have to be worn with 'hat-titude'. Some colourful pieces were accompanied by matching bags and belts, and in the huge hats segment were designs suitable for sheltering heads from the blazing sun.

Ambassador Madge Barrett, a familiar face on the social scene, gave the audience a glimpse of her personal hat collection.

The best hat competition had three categories: Best Dressed Hat (store bought), Most Innovative Hat (created for the show) and the reggae jammin' hat competition (those just for show). Nadean Rawlins walked away winner of the Best Dressed Hat with her orange wide-brimmed hat complemented by a multicoloured headband and a bow at the front. Sandra Cooper got first prize for her innovative and creative hat featuring a bird sitting in a garden of orchids.

Ecuadorian Consul Clelia Barreto de Hunter won the reggae jammin hat segment with her Wench of the Galapagos Islands-inspired hat.

Patrons got a taste of the Basil Dawkins play, For Better or Worse, that kept patrons entertained. Glen Campbell Disco added a relaxing feel to the event and guests sampled the treats provided. After the show, patrons got a chance to purchase the beautiful hats at discounted prices.
