Teen killed in Clansman feud
An internal feud in the Spanish Town-based Clansman gang has led to the death of 16-year-old Kevon Lloyd, of Little Lane in Central Village, and the wounding of six others.
The gang, which has its headquarters in De la Vega City in Spanish Town, St Catherine, is known for its control through force and extortion in sections of the capital such as the business district and the bus park.
Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that about 6:45 p.m., seven individuals were standing along Little Lane when a Toyota Corolla motor car with four men aboard drove up. Three of the men alighted with high-powered weapons and opened fire before escaping in the vehicle.
The seven were taken to the hospital where Kevon was pronounced dead. The others were admitted in stable condition.
The Gleaner understands that the criminals were in search of a man who had left the gang after his house was torched in the Lakes Pen community.
The men invaded the community and fired at the man who eluded them. It was during the shooting that the seven bystanders were shot.
Operations officer for the St Catherine South Police Division, Superintendent Clive Blair, told The Gleaner the incident resulted from the division in the gang.
