After seven years in Jamaica, cosmetic giant, Avon now has all its operations centralised under one roof. On Saturday, March 20 the company had a grand opening at its new location, 21 West King's House Road, St Andrew.
Most of those present were among the 5,000 representatives the company boasts in Jamaica. With six million worldwide, the 125-year-old company's largest beauty network market in the Caribbean is Jamaica.
Senior Executive Unit Leader Donna Reid-Mitchell, noted that she found she was making more selling cosmetics than ever before, so she left her full-time job. Working as an Avon representative now pays the bills for this single mother of two while still giving her the flexibility of determining her work hours.
Opportunity and empowerment
Auclair Walters, senior manager of Caribbean islands, told Flair that Avon is all about opportunity and empowerment, highlighting Avon's global campaign that is geared towards women's health. "It's all about women," he said.
The new facility has a computer room for representatives to place orders, facilities for skin care and make-up training sessions, and a spacious display room highlighting the latest products. Among them is the new scent, eternal magic, with Avatar actress, Zoe Saldana, as its spokesperson.
The icing on the cake at the opening was seeing the wide range of cosmetics at work with a makeover demonstration by Executive Unit Leader, Rushane Sterling. Yvonne Scott gave control of her face to the skilful hands of Sterling to work his magic with; Purple haze and electric purple eyeshadow palette, bronze smooth mineral powder, supershock intense mascara, mystery mauve lip liner and black-on-black eyeliner.
