Maragh double
LEXINGTON, Kentucky (CMC):
Rajiv Maragh shared the spotlight when he piloted the 5-1 bet Wasted Tears to victory in the US$200,000 Jenny Wiley Stakes on Saturday at Keeneland Race Course.
The Jenny Wiley Stakes was the third-richest of four added-money features on the 11-race card and the victory was one of two for Maragh, which moved the Jamaican reinsman into the top-10 of the early jockeys' standing with three wins.
Wasted Tears, a five-year-old, dark bay mare, won by a half-length and notched her fifth consecutive victory and third stakes win for breeder/owner/trainer Bart Evans, after leading throughout the race, and holding off a challenge from last year's winner Forever Together.
Maragh then added the US $54,000 10th and penultimate race, when the 6-1 chance Crescenda won by 1-3/4 lengths.
