Great work!

This broken water main on Church Street, below Charles Street, downtown Kingston, had been leaking gallons of water each day. Residents in the area said workmen from the National Water Commission had dug up the area about two years ago to repair a leaking pipe. But after they left, the water was still running. This sight is now a thing of the past. - photos by Norman Grindley/Chief Photographer

The National Water Commission (NWC) has responded very quickly to a picture of a broken water main carried in The Gleaner this week. It is normal to complain about the tardiness of big organisations when it comes to meeting the needs of the small man. The NWC has answered the call to take responsibility for the care of its customers and for that The Gleaner says hearty congratulations!
