STETHS lift cup
St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) emerged 2010 Grace/ISSA Headley Cup champions at Alpart Sports Club yesterday.
Holmwood, chasing 309 for victory in their second innings, reached 116 for three when the game was called off at 5 p.m. Jermaine Blackwood, a West Indies youth player who fell for a duck in the first innings, made 50.
The considerable loss of nearly three sessions due to persistent rain on the first two days meant STETHS would prevail on the strength of the 212 they posted in the first innings.
The champions limited Holmwood to 129 all out to gain a first innings advantage of 84 runs. Medium pacer Damion Reid, the bowling hero of the previous day, got the final wicket to finish with five.
However, any real hope for the Christiana team was lost as STETHS batted for the better part of two sessions to post 222 in 56 overs. Vaniel Bromfield topscored with 42 while captain Paul Palmer Jr contributed 35.
