French mega-liner CMA-CGM has announced that it will launch a weekly Black Pearl service connecting New York, Halifax and Kingston on April 30.

The Black Pearl service which previously offered fortnightly calls, now has a fixed-day weekly service connecting Halifax and New York to the Caribbean, Central America, and East, West and North Coast of South America with Kingston as the hub. Two vessels with capacity of 1,100 TEU (20-foot Equivalent Container Units) will be used on the trade lane.

Excellence

"The consistency of excellence and customer focus across the CMA CGM group is evident with the launch of the weekly Black Pearl service," Leo Nesbeth, general manager of CMA-CGM's local offices, said. "The group is always seeking to find ways of delivering efficiency to their customers while never compromising service or reliability."

"The Black Pearl weekly loop will allow CMA-CGM to continue its development from North America to Latin America," he added.

CMA-CGM is currently the world's third largest container shipping group and is ranked number one in France. The group operates a fleet of 370 vessels and has weekly calls to Jamaica from international ports worldwide. The line carries cargo of all kinds - both personal and commercial.
