A delicious array of curried food items is what the organisers of this year's Westmoreland Curry Festival promise food lovers at the annual event on Sunday, April 25. It will be held on the grounds of the Manning's School.

Known for its curry mango, breadfruit and jackfruit, the 10th annual staging of Curry Festival intends to bring Portland's Boston Jerk to Westmoreland and fuse jerk with curry. Curry jerk pork, along with curry jerk goat, are some of what patrons can expect to see.

Ernest Wilson of Portland's Boston Jerk expressed delight at this opportunity to participate in a festival that celebrates food.

"Food in general is a part of our heritage and we wanted to bring Portland to Westmoreland through our participation in Curry Festival," an elated Wilson revealed. He added that he would be doing curried chicken sausage, curried jerk yam, curried jerk goat and curried jerk pork.

"I hope this will be the start of a great partnership between us and the organisers of this festival and I would like to be a part of this event every year," Wilson concluded.

Some 30 booths will be at the festival, according to Westmoreland Curry Festival chairman Donald Gordon. "Portland's Boston jerk is a new addition to the festival so, in addition to our usual treat, patrons can look out for delicious and interesting treats from our new participant," Gordon explained.
