A regal affair

On the cool beautiful morning of February 6, Reverend Osbourne Bailey and Wilma Johnson made public their lifetime commitment to each other at the University Chapel - Mona, St Andrew.

And a regal affair it was. The lighting of two unity candles by relatives of the bride and groom, signified the beginning of the ceremony. The candles remained lit throughout the ceremony until the couple used them both to light the middle candle signifying two lives becoming one.

The radiant bride entered the chapel on the arms of her father, Octavius Johnson, to Peter Carter singing You are so beautiful. The bride was outfitted by Uzuri, while the groom was outfitted by Beautiful Bride and Mr Tux. When the bride was halfway up the isle, there was uproar in the church, when the groom took his concealed microphone and took over the singing of the song as he escorted his bride to the altar.

The couple recited their personal vows and performed the sand ceremony directed by the officiating minister - Reverend Dr Sam Green.

The reception followed at the Mona Visitors' Lodge and Conference Centre, and was entitled A Feast of Music and A Feast of Food. Guests signed a mounted photograph of the couple which represented the guest book. In her reply, the bride thanked her father, for his love, commitment and dedication to his children. In his reply, the groom reinforced his commitment to his bride.

The menu and decor were done by Rose Nesbeth, while an ice carving of the calla lily and dove were done by Karl Thomas using the wedding colours of burnt orange, chocolate brown and army green. The bride and her friends baked the wedding cake which was beautifully decorated by Robert Bonner.

The couple honeymooned at Sunset Jamaica Grande, Montego Bay.
