Iran has held unusually direct talks with a United States-based lawyer over the fate of an American businessman jailed nearly two years in Iran.
A lawyer for Reza Taghavi has twice travelled to Tehran for face-to-face negotiations with the Iranian government, including a visit last week. So far, Iran has not set Taghavi free.

A Los Angeles businessman, Taghavi is one of at least five Americans believed jailed in Iran. He has not been charged with a crime.
