Taken over by lawlessness
The Editor, Sir:
It is with great disgust that I view the recent murders of children and other law-abiding citizens in our society. How can sane men be shooting children and cutting their throats?
Our country has been taken over by lawlessness. Gangsters and thugs have intimidated politicians, police and citizens.
These criminal elements I speak of are those who have adopted a get-rich-quick mentality and have refused to work, therefore robbing and killing innocent people for what they work hard to earn. Then there are those who run their scams and illegal sweepstakes partnership that go sour and then they turn on each other, forming gangs and committing violent crimes.
I passionately plead with the government to curb this monster of crime. I, for one, strongly support the death penalty in these grave situations. I, therefore, call on the prime minister and the minister of national security to act swiftly and reinstate hanging in Jamaica.
I am, etc.,
