Baskin Robbins recruiting more franchises in Jamaica
Operator of the Baskin Robbins franchise in Jamaica, Richard Burgher, is looking to expand the ice-cream operation locally through franchises now up for sale.
Burgher, who has advertised for franchisees, said when reached that he was in confidential negotiations with potential partners and could not speak immediately about the expansion.
Locations worldwide
The Baskin Robbins franchise is operated by Burgher's company Cyber-Food Products Limited. In 2002, Baskin Robbins stores in Jamaica totalled seven, but have now dropped to two - its main operation located on Old Hope Road in Kingston and another in Ocean Village Shopping Centre in Ocho Rios.
With over 6,000 store locations worldwide in 35 countries, Baskin Robins is the world's largest chain of ice-cream speciality shops in operation for over 62 years.
In Jamaica, Baskin Robbins competes against several other companies in the ice cream and frozen dessert business such as home-grown Devon House, Crazy Jim, Nestlé, among others.
Baskin Robbins on its website is itself now advertising franchise opportunities.
It was not immediately clear whether the local thrust now for new franchise operator was in line with that of the owners of the brand.
