WORK HAS started on the premises in Tulip Lane, Denham Town, where eight prefabricated houses are to be built to replace those destroyed in a fire weeks ago.

When The Gleaner team visited the area last week, a Jamaica Public Service crew was seen relocating a light post at the entrance of the premises.

Other preliminary work was also under way as the Israeli construction company Ashtrom International started to meet its commitment to build the prefabricated houses.

Ashtrom plans to build a two-storey structure to house the people who were displaced by the fire, which caused damage valued at more than $20 million.
