Melrose Pusey's road to recovery
Barbara Ellington, Lifestyle Editor
As we continue to track our story 'Melrose Pusey's Dilemma', first published in Flair last month, we are pleased to inform our caring readers who helped that Mrs Pusey's path to recovery is under way.
With the help of a therapist in the field of lymphodema treatment, Patrice Dwyer, the items needed to treat her were ordered from Florida, and some kind readers and family members donated the US$289 needed to pay for it. I carried out a collection drive among my colleagues in this newspaper's editorial department and we raised $10,500 of the just-over $13,000 for customs charges.
Pusey had her first consultation with Dwyer, and they communicate frequently as she is anxious for the process to begin. Dwyer visited the Gleaner last week and she explained that Pusey's arm can return to its normal size, provided she follows the recommended procedures.
Mrs Pusey would like to inform Flair readers that she is very grateful for all the help, love, prayers and support she has received and she prays for God's blessings on everyone.
Keep on reading the Flair Magazine to track her progress, as we hope to bring you details of exactly what happens during the therapy sessions. Also, who is this caring Patrice Dwyer, who read about anther woman's plight and decided to help? We will bring you her story in a future edition of this magazine.
At publication time, we learnt that another reader had donated $5,000 towards Mrs Pusey's treatment.
