The universe takes care of itself and so everything has fallen into place for the birth of Tea Tree and Crêperie.

The dream of Carol (Quizz) Sigurdson and her mother, Maree, the idea of a tea room has blossomed into a one-of-a-kind tea and crêpe café. Located at 8 Hillcrest Avenue, St Andrew, the main house on the property is the former residence of famed author Olive Lewin. And like the tales Lewin told and wrote, the new sweets and savouries outlet also has a story.

There is a story on different sections of the walls - stories of Carol's life, the delicious crêpe that they serve and the idea of a tea room that came to life this summer.

The story began with an excited call from Carol to her mother who was backpacking across Greece. She had found the perfect space for her tea room, Tea Tree. As Maree continued her journey, she began to take note of the number of persons she saw through their windows making crêpes. And right before the start of YUSH, a popular event Carol puts on every year, she returned an equally excited call to her daughter and a Crêperie was added to the plans.

She donated half of the clothes in her backpack and her wheeled bag and stuffed them with the perfect napkins and table cloths for the new business. And then in came the muscles of the operation in the form of their operations manager, Oliver Hardie. On Monday, December 12, their first customer walked through the doors.

They offer more than 35 different types of tea. From herbal to aromatherapy, to black to 'stop smoking' tea and chrysanthemum. Sweetened with German sugar rocks, this is what drinking tea is supposed to be.

The crêpe menu is endless. If they don't have a crêpe that you want, come back the next day and they will make it for you. And they are divine. One bite into their smoked marlin crêpe transports you to a delicious heaven of flavours. But what can you expect with Maree (who has been cooking since she was seven years old) in an apron and her trusty sidekick sous chef Jerome Wisdom? You can also get your coffee fix, cappuccino or espresso. And who knows what next will come out of the mind of an artist? How about Café au Hea! Yes a 'spiked' coffee list is in the making.
