Why are the watchdogs quiet?

Published:Wednesday | March 14, 2012 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

YOUR HEADLINE in The Gleaner of Friday, March 9, 'Lesbians and learning' yielded surprisingly little response. It appears our watchdogs were sleeping. There was none of the expected outrage from Jamaicans for Justice. No condemnation of their people from the Jamaica Forum for Lesbians, All-sexuals and Gays - who always insist that they never force their lifestyle on others or try to 'turn' young people. Had it been a boys' school, imagine the ruckus!

Because it is little girls 'it a nuh nutten' - in the same way that men are rarely prosecuted or punished for impregnating girls under 16 years old. These traumatised and damaged little girls need some serious counselling but intervention seems to be slow in coming. Wake up you watchdogs! The silence is deafening!
