The quest is on to once again choose a multifaceted lady who will go on to vie for the Miss Jamaica World crown in June.

Kimberly Thomas, Danielle Martin, Chevell Powell, Amita Persaud-Webb, Alexan Stewart, Dania Beaton, Terese Robinson, Jade Alloh, Chelsea Taylor, Arielle Goubault, Shona Bewly, Toni-Ann Hibbert, Kelly-Ann Diedrick, Courtnie Jackson, Samantha Williams and Kaniegia Buckley were the ladies chosen at the pre-selection process on March 3 and 10.

The Spartan Health Club, organisers of the Miss Jamaica World beauty pageant, hosted two of four preselected showcases where Miss Jamaica World hopefuls were given the opportunity to be fast-tracked to the final eliminations in May. The chosen ladies will be given the opportunity to better prepare themselves for the final selection. The 16 ladies were chosen out of a total of 31 hopefuls and will be entitled to free gym membership at the Spartan Health Club and free grooming sessions by image consultant DJ Shaw. The preselections continue on Saturday at 2 p.m. The final pre-selection date is Saturday, March 24. Those selected will have a final audition on May 26.

Pageant director Regina Beavers was elated about the first showcase and anticipates an increase in the turnout for the future dates.

"With the theme this year being 'We Celebrate 50; Jamaica Unite', I find that a lot of ladies are very interested and are fully enthusiastic about this year's pageant because of their patriotism," Beavers explained.

"The turnout so far compared favourably to last year's first day of the preselections and entries are coming in daily including from the diaspora, and so we are expecting a very successful and competitive event," Beavers explained.

Facial beauty, beauty of figure, personality and presence are just some of the key elements that will be expected of the ladies vying for the coveted Miss Jamaica World 50 title. The pageant final is set for Saturday, June 30.
