Praising Gov't for return of fishermen
THE EDITOR, Sir:
The news that the stranded Jamaican fishermen in Mexico are returning home is welcome. The lengthy holding of the two innocent Jamaican fishermen in a foreign immigration centre has found the Jamaican Government's resolve strong when it comes to protecting its citizens who are in jeopardy beyond our shores.
Both the foreign affairs and agriculture ministries should be commended and applauded for their resolve to see these fishermen home as soon as possible.
Junior Foreign Affairs Minister Arnaldo Brown exhibited maturity and vision in his approach in protecting the interest of Jamaican nationals.
To the minister and staff of the foreign affairs ministry who stuck to the task and fought for the return of our nationals, we are proud of you. To the fishermen, I must say, welcome home.
