The man charged with the murder of former Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) Chairman Douglas Chambers appeared yesterday in the Home Circuit Court.

He is André Bryan of Jones Avenue in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

The director of public prosecutions took the decision that a preliminary inquiry should not be held into the matter. The case was instead sent for trial in the Home Circuit Court.

Bryan has been remanded to return on April 27 when his lawyer, Valerie Neita-Robertson, will make a bail application.

The allegations are that, about 5:40 p.m. on August 27, 2008, Chambers was at the JUTC depot in Spanish Town when someone called him to the gate.

It is further alleged that while he was at the gate, Bryan and three other men shot him dead.

Bryan was pointed out during an identification parade.
