New court not the priority
Justice Minister Mark Golding says he wants a special court to prosecute financial crimes. He plans to discuss the matter with Chief Justice Zaila McCalla.
We are sympathetic to Mr Golding's intent of pursuing corruption and other white-collar crimes. But we wonder whether a special court is the priority.
Perhaps a more important point to discuss with the chief justice would be how to structure the courts to deal with the nearly 480,000 cases that clog the system. Now, if he did something about that ... .
