Students celebrate the end of GSAT

The Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) ended yesterday and for thousands of primary-level students across the country, it was time to exhale.

After months of intense preparation, more than 44,000 students sat the two-day exams which will be used to determine which high schools they will attend come September.

Screams of excitement punctuated the air at Sts Peter and Paul Preparatory School in St Andrew where 129 students sat the exams.

The students frolicked about the schoolyard hugging each other, their teachers and parents.

For most, the exams were "easy" and "straightforward" and they credited their teachers for getting them prepared.

Ten-year-old Danzell Knight said he did his best and was confident he would do well.

"I'm just looking forward to seeing what the results are like," Danzell told The Gleaner with his beaming parents Nigel and Alveta nearby.
