International Proxy Parents' soirée a success
As one of its fund-raising activities, the International Proxy Parents (IPP) held a highly successful soirée at the beautiful residence of Mureen Chang. Chief organisers Sonia Tomlinson, past president and chairperson of the education committee, and Joy McHugh, past president, along with their team, executed a successful event to raise funds to assist bright but needy students in secondary schools.
Members of the diplomatic corps and other guests came out to enjoy the charming setting and scrumptious fare. Among those out were Nafissatou Diagne, ambassador of Senegal; Marc-Olivier Gendry, ambassador of France, accompanied by two friends from New York - Ramon Corvera, chargé d'affaires, Embassy of Argentina; Tian Zhenfeng, consul, Embassy of China, as well as other staff members; Kaori Saito, cultural officer, Embassy of Japan, and embassy representative Erlene Kowlessar, second secretary. Also out were high commissioner of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr Iva Gloudon; Robert MacMillan, honorary consul of Iceland; Gary Rex, director of the narcotics affairs section at the Embassy of the United States of America.
Guests had a wonderful evening as they enjoyed excellent performances by DiMario McDowell & Friends featuring singers Heather Grant, Keisha Patterson and Maria Myrie; keyboardist Chris McDonald and saxophonist Rafael Salazar.
The president and members of the IPP gratefully acknowledged the contribution of sponsor J. Wray & Nephew Wines, Chas Ramson Ltd, Uncorked Cheese, SherryBerries and the Rum Bar, whose partnership resulted in a delightful and successful event.
