BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC):

It took Jamaica only 13 balls to complete a crushing 154-run win over Combined Campuses & Colleges (CCC) on the fourth and final day here yesterday, for a remarkable clean sweep in the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Four-Day Tournament ahead of the semi-finals this weekend.

Needing 321 for victory in their seventh round match, CCC were bowled out for 166 off 56.1 overs after resuming on 162 for eight.

The match ended 11 minutes after the start of play.

Jason Dawes, who was on one overnight, was bowled off stump by pacer Andrew Richardson for three as he padded up to a ball which swung back at 166 for nine.

Dawes' overnight partner, Chadwick Walton, then went on the back foot to force leg-spinner Odean Brown through the offside and edged a catch to wicketkeeper Horace Miller after scoring 31, having started the day on 29.

All told, Walton, one of four Jamaicans in the CCC team, batted for 122 minutes, faced 84 balls and struck three fours and one six.

Match haul

Brown was the main destroyer with five for 25 off 11.1 overs. He had a match haul of seven for 48 off 25.1 overs and was duly named Man of the Match.

The result meant that Jamaica, the champions for the past four years, won all six of their matches to end with 72 points, while CCC, who were runners-up last year, finished disappointingly second-to-last on 16 points.

Tamar Lambert's team will play Guyana in their semi-final match at Sabina Park in Kingston, starting on Friday.
