Merritone for Mico fête

Published:Wednesday | March 28, 2012 | 12:00 AM

The Mico Old Students Association (MOSA) will be hosting a fund-raising fête to bring together past and present students, family and friends, on Friday to culminate The Mico University College's Mico Week celebrations.

Location for the fête is the Buxton Quadrangle on The Mico campus which will be transformed into a huge dance floor, when popular disco, the inimitable Merritone Music, reel out their wide-ranging catalogue of hits from as far back as the 1950s. Spinning the discs will be the Blake Brothers, Winston and Monte, founders of the sound system, and the 'Young Lion' Craig Ross.

Merritone, which had its beginnings in Morant Bay, St Thomas, has touched the lives of music lovers for more than six decades from downtown to uptown and across the borders in the Caribbean, North America and Europe.

Contribution to the fête is $1,500 inclusive of a meal. A cash bar will be available.

Tickets for the Mico fête are available from the MOSA office at Kelvin Lodge on The Mico University College campus.
