Dolla Win, Walker back in winner's circle

The disqualification of DOLLA WIN by the raceday stewards on Saturday, January 21 has been reversed by the full board of the Jamaica Racing Commission.

DOLLA WIN (13-1), ridden by four-time champion Omar Walker for trainer Donovan McCaw, was disqualified following a stewards inquiry and the race awarded to second past the post CLASSY KELLY.

Walker was cited for causing interference to TRICKY TRAIN entering the straight, causing the fall of female jockey Georgina Sergeon, who was injured in the spill and had to be hospitalised.

Walker, however, appealed the decision of the stewards, claiming he had done nothing wrong.

After viewing the patrol film of the race and hearing submissions from veteran sportscaster Ed Barnes, representing Walker, the Commission reversed the decision of the operations stewards and reinstated DOLLA WIN to first.

This means that trainer McCaw, who graduated from the JRC training course in 2008, has officially posted his first winner.
