After serving for the past four years as mayor of Mandeville there was no surprise when Brenda Ramsay was given the nod to continue leading the Manchester Parish Council following the People's National Party's (PNP) comprehensive victory last Monday.

A veteran of 22 years in representational politics, Ramsay has proven to be a stalwart for the PNP in local government and is seen by her colleagues, even across party lines, as a true leader and a performer.

Ramsay earned even more respect following her impressive performance in the just-concluded local government elections after she racked up the widest margin of victory in the parish, beating Ian Hibbert of the Jamaica Labour Party by almost 1,300 votes to win the Bellefield Division.

In her tenure as mayor of Mandeville, Ramsay has played an integral role in making the council one of the best run in the island.
