Delta Supply to the rescue!
The dedicated staff at Hope Botannical Gardens were more than pleased when, shortly after discovering the gardens had fallen victim to thieves and much of their vital equipment and tools were missing, they became the recipients of new equipment to replace virtually all that was stolen.
Soon after the recent robbery, the Friends of Hope Gardens quickly tried to source and find a way to retool and replace the equipment, so vital for the upkeep of the historic landmark. After checking with Delta Supply Company and receiving a quote for all items required, they asked for a discount in light of the unexpected loss and their shortage of funds.
Very soon, George Swire, Delta's managing director, brought some very good news. Not only was all the equipment required by the gardens available and ready for delivery but, Delta Supply Company would donate everything required to the value of some J$300,000.
Good news indeed! Swire was quick to state that, like so many other Jamaicans, Hope Botanical Gardens holds a special place in his heart and brings back wonderful childhood memories of being taken there on Sunday afternoons as a special treat.
This thoughtful gesture from Delta Supply Company was just what was needed to ensure the facility is properly maintained and cared for, as befitting a national treasure.
