The board of the American Women's Group (AWG) is currently selling raffle tickets for some very attractive prizes, and for only J$100 each!

The AWG, in its constant drive to raise funds for its many scholarships for needy students, took into consideration the economic constraints now facing our country and thought that selling reasonably priced raffle tickets would be affordable for most people. Project chair and vice-president of the AWG, Ann-Marie Vaz, said that having many prizes makes buying a ticket attractive.

Sales going well

She said sales have been going well but the target has not yet been reached, so everyone needs to get their tickets soon.

"All proceeds from the raffle will keep the children who benefit in schools and, hopefully, sponsor some new ones,"she told Something Extra. She added that the AWG sponsors children from basic through high school but there are now six children who have qualified for university but are hampered due to lack of funds. "We are hoping the success of the raffle will put us in a position to afford them to continue this incredible opportunity that they have worked so hard to achieve despite the many challenges they face; together we can make a difference," Vaz said.

To get one of the tickets left, call: 877-9261. Drawing takes place on April 19, and United States Ambassador to Jamaica Pamela Bridgewater will do the honours.

Raffle prizes include a grand prize of a weekend for two at Half Moon Hotel plus a weekend for two at Jamaica Inn and SuperClubs Breezes Resorts, a Blackberry Bold Touch 9900 from Digicel, Dolphin Cove tickets for a family of four, a giclée limited-edition print from P.J. Stewart, tickets for a family of four to Chukka Cove Adventures, dinner for two at the Regency Room at Terra Nova All Suite Hotel, dinner for six at the Grog Shoppe, Devon House, a spa day at InSkin Limited and dinner for two at Majestic Sushi.
