US Embassy announces Easter holiday closures

The United States (US) Embassy in Kingston will be closed tomorrow and next Monday in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday.

In a release yesterday, the embassy said all parts of the US Mission, including the Consular Section, US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Robeson Information Resource Centre, United States Agency for International Development, US Peace Corps offices and the US Consular Agency in Montego Bay, will also be closed on these days.

"The embassy and its affiliated offices will be open for business on Tuesday, April 10," the release stated.

In addition, the USCIS office will be closed to the public on Thursday April 12, 2012. Normal customer service hours for this office will resume on Monday April 16 between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

"This closure only affects USCIS. All other parts of the US Mission, including the Consular Section (visas), will be open for normal business hours," the release stated. "Persons with visa appointments should report to the embassy 15 minutes before the appointed time given."

Members of the public who have a US Immigration emergency on the closure dates indicated were asked to contact the embassy through its switchboard number at (876) 702-6000 or email jamaica.uscis@dhs.gov.
