THE PORTIA Simpson Miller administration has established an economic advisory council to advise Finance and Planning Minister Dr Peter Phillips on financial and economic issues geared towards the promotion of growth and development in the country.

The council comprises retired financial secretary Shirley Tyndall, former financial secretary Colin Bullock, and economist Dennis Morrison.

Minister with Responsibility for Information Senator Sandrea Falconer said that Cabinet approved the establishment of the council.

Speaking at the weekly Jamaica House press briefing this week, Falconer noted that Cabinet was informed that the economic challenges facing Jamaica at this time were considerable and would require the informed and timely implementation of suitable remedial measures.
