Section closure at US Embassy

Published:Wednesday | April 11, 2012 | 12:00 AM

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office of the Department of Homeland Security, with its office at the US Embassy in Kingston, will be closed to the public tomorrow. Normal customer service hours for this office will resume next Monday between 1 and 3 p.m.

"This closure only affects USCIS. All other parts of the US Mission, including the consular section (visas), will be open for normal business hours," the US Embassy stated in a release.

"Persons with visa appointments should report to the embassy 15 minutes before the appointed time given."

Members of the public who have a US Immigration emergency on the closure dates indicated are asked to contact the embassy through its switchboard number at (876) 702-6000 or email jamaica.uscis@dhs.gov.

The embassy apologised for any inconvenience the USCIS closure might cause.
