Medalla beer heads to Florida
The Brewery of Puerto Rico is for the first time exporting its signature Medalla Light beer to Florida as part of a US$100 million expansion.
The company said the lager was available starting Tuesday in Orlando, Tampa and certain parts of central Florida.
It is expected to be available across all of Florida by end of April.
Company President Camalia Valdes says the goal is to sell at least 175,000 cases of beer in Florida annually and then possibly expand to other states.
She said Launch Beverage Companies will distribute the beer.
The company already exports its Malta India product to New York, Florida and other states. Brewery of Puerto Rico also produces Magna Special Craft and Silver Key Light beers for local consumption.
