Prep/primary chess tourney

The nation's youngest and brightest minds will face off in ultra-sharp chess competition on May 5-6 at Campion College.

Schools from across the island will compete in the 13th annual edition of the primary/preparatory schools' chess tournament over six rounds, beginning daily at 10 a.m. and concluding by 6 p.m.

Organised by Jamaica's top youth chess club, Chess Enterprise, this tournament is open to all primary and preparatory schools. Since its inception in 2000, however, schools in the Corporate Area have earned the most liens on the championship title, led by the seeming invincible duo of Queen's Prep and Sts Peter & Paul Prep.

These two teams are expected to be the main challengers to defending champions and pre-tournament favourites Hopefield Prep.
