Two-day ban for Ellis
Title-chasing jockey Shane Ellis, who rode back-to-back triples at Caymanas Park on the past two Saturdays, has been slapped with a two-day suspension by the stewards for separate riding offences in the second half of March.
Ellis, champion jockey in the year 2000, was suspended for one raceday for careless riding in the third race on Saturday, causing interference to SUPER DAVE leaving the 200-metre point in the straight-five race won by DIABOLICAL KID.
MR SKILL passed the post second but following a stewards' inquiry was disqualified for the infringement caused to fellow speedster SUPER DAVE, both of whom had an intense duel for the lead for most of the way.
In the second instance, Ellis picked up another day for his riding aboard the winning horse MUMBAI MAESTRO in the fifth race on Saturday, March 24, this for causing interference to GHOST RAPPER in the last 300 metres.
Ellis' suspensions will take effect tomorrow and Wednesday, April 25.
