THE EDITOR, Sir:
The recent episode at the Norman Manley International Airport involving Sarah Newland Martin has come to the attention of the Friends of Mona Rehabilitation Centre. We wish publicly to express, in the strongest possible terms, our displeasure at the manner in which a prominent Jamaican who is a member of the disabled community was treated at the airport.
Mrs Newland Martin is a member of the Friends and has travelled the world representing the cause of handicapped persons. That she could have been so treated by Jamaican airport personnel is inexcusable.
We trust that there will be a thorough investigation of this matter and that airport personnel will be trained in the proper methods of dealing with disabled passengers.
Chairman, Friends of Mona
