Duggan's Yendi article on point

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I read Din Duggan's column 'Yendi Phillipps and Peter Phillips: Beauty and the Beast', published Wednesday, April 25, 2012, about his disappointment with Yendi's decision to have a child out of wedlock.

It's sad that it's the norm in Jamaica for partners to conceive children out of wedlock. The data Din presented were alarming: 80 per cent of children born are out of wedlock.

No wonder the level of morality within our community is deteriorating, but then again, it's what you do after you have the child that matters. Some families remain united even after having the child.

Din was so on point with regard to the socio-economic issues that are affecting the country's overall development. One of the biggest mistakes Jamaica ever made was selling out so many of its resources to Trinidad, e.g., Air Jamaica. What a tragedy!

I could go on and on.

Great article.
