Ladies Day at the Park

Oaks Day is being promoted as 'Ladies Day' at Caymanas Park tomorrow, and in keeping with the theme, there will be a number of activities geared towards women.

These include the Bigga Gimmick race on which betting will be conducted, along with a hat exhibition, while select women who have excelled in various fields will be honoured by Wisynco/Caymanas Track Limited.

The list of 14 comprises national netball coach Oberon Pitterson, special Olympian Sarah Newland-Martin, female jockey Georgina Sergeon, broadcasters Dorraine Samuels, Fae Ellington. Simone Clarke-Cooper and Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small, Flair editor Barbara Ellington, noted actress Dion Silvera, film-maker Justine Henzell, Sharon Burke, Barbara McDaniel, Audrey Reid and Susan Symes, host of the 'Susan Show'.

The 11-race programme will feature the 73rd running of the Jamaica Oaks over 2000 metres for native-bred three-year-old fillies to be contested by 14 starters.

The first 100 ladies to enter the track will get a free hat, courtesy of Bigga. MC will be Miss Kitty.
