Who paid for ministers' trip?
THE EDITOR, Sir:
I found Peter Espeut's column 'What is influence peddling?', published Friday, April 27, 2012, to be very thoughtfully written and open. It shows that there are still journalists who keep their ears to the ground.
I have been monitoring the stories surrounding the prime minister's trip and was wondering why so many persons had travelled with her.
Espeut has shed new light on the matter and, hopefully, the questions you have asked will officially be asked. And, we as Jamaicans will get some answers.
If a government official is on government business, I would think the cost would be borne by the State. Like Espeut said, we could be reading into nothing, but I would love to know exactly where the money for that trip came from, what official business was conducted, and how beneficial the trip was for the country.
